NOTE: Normally, exit route signs should be accompanied by an appropriate directional arrow.
According to British Standard 5499 - 4:2000, the directional arrow MAY be omitted ONLY when the sign is sited immediately above an exit in a cinema, theatre or a similar auditorium, and where the escape route sign is internally illuminated.
